Residence for Harvest Interior Design

In the diversity of styles, the modern style has become a symbol of timelessness. The large blank space with dark wood grain shows simplicity but not emptiness. From the foyer, the semitransparent material makes the social area opaque and directs people's attention to the window view in the distance. With dream-like reflections, the borderless interior opens up the mind. The interior design provides relief from the hard work of being on the go and makes the home a warm harbor for the soul and emotions.

Unique Properties

Due to the limited area, the designer used glass to embellish the social area at the turn to dissolve the hardness, reduce the sense of crowdedness, and create a smoother circulation. The transparent glass facilitates natural lighting. A low cabinet is placed at the kitchen entrance as a boundary between the kitchen and the dining room, linking up the social area. The designer enhanced the utilization of the space with a bunk bed, and the staircase is planned as drawers. The desk extends from the display shelf to serve as a storage area.

Production Technology

Materials: polypropylene panels, baking paint, laminate flooring, aluminum, moru glass, wooden louvers, etc. The walls are mainly covered with paint. Concealed doors and sliding doors are lacquered. Most cabinets are made of KD polypropylene panels, which require no special maintenance and can be wiped with a cloth for easy cleaning. The ultra-realistic wood grain printing technology further enhances the texture. The overall space is colored in walnut, white, and light gray to present the depth of field.

Design Challenge

The project serves a nuclear family of four. The core is to expand the storage capacity in limited space to meet the large amount of storage needs. The designer created a clean design by linking the entire facade from right to left and then increased the storage space vertically by integrating entryway cabinets, shelves, and a TV wall to keep the home tidy.

Project Duration

The project finished in July 2023 in Taiwan.

Operation Flow

The couple has hundreds of pairs of shoes. To meet the residents' demand for storage, the designer planned a complete entrance function. The floating full-height cabinet includes not only general shelves but also a rotating shoe rack with a larger storage capacity, and the space underneath can be used to store shoes and slippers. The shoe chair, hooks, and shelving platforms are conveniently located in the doorway, making the area a corner where people can stop and linger before entering or leaving the home.

Research

The designer maximized the spaciousness and storage by combining the entrance cabinet, storage cabinet, and TV wall into a single unit, and utilized the vertical height to expand the storage capacity. Glass and large windows allow for bright natural light from one side, and are the inspiration for the project's name, "Photosynthesis. Pastel wood and white tones create tranquility and harmony. The highlight of the interior is the glass study room. Without compromising on light and interactivity, the study room amplifies the scale of the social area. The curved edging technique makes the lines smoother and creates a rhythm.

Inspiration

The space serves a couple with two children. The large windows bring in bright natural light, and to emphasize this advantage, the designer used dark wood grain as the base with blank space to show a calm and noble intellectual quality. Instead of a complicated design, the designer took the warm texture of wood grain to construct a comfortable home for the family of four, shaping an unadorned daily life.
