This renovation traces the owner's journey from childhood to maturity. During the pandemic, she redefined her childhood home into a shared space for three generations, herself, her father, and her children. With a background as a flight attendant and a deep appreciation for European architecture, she infused the design with Baroque and Rococo influences, complemented by contemporary art. The result is a refined yet inviting home, balancing the grandeur of a resort with the warmth of family life.

Unique Properties

The elegant line boards decorate the entryway wall and cabinet body, and the exotic style floor tiles and flower wallpapers are paved, to open the prelude of the holiday hotel style. Symmetrical classical fireplace shape TV wall, using the upper and two sides of the columns, hides the storage function. On the sofa background wall with gold foil base, the natural totem of flower and bird art is drawn, among which four birds are hand-painted to interpret the emotions of the family.

Production Technology

The entrance space is limited, coupled with the field compressed by beams and columns. The left side of the entrance door enlarges the sense of space by the symmetrical shoe cabinets. The sofa background wall and the end view of the corridor are integrated into the totem image of flowers and birds on the base of gold and silver foil, which cleverly integrates Rococo artistic atmosphere of flowers and birds into Baroque gorgeous beauty. For the color layout, the use of grand and luxurious gold system in the entryway, living room, and public areas, creates the gorgeous palace sense of European royal family.

Design Challenge

To integrate European architectural culture and Rococo style into the residence, while mixing the colors and paintings, to interweave the unique, warm and romantic balanced proportion.

Project Duration

The project finished in 2022 in New Taipei City.

Operation Flow

The original space of dining room is a closed kitchen and a small room. After the partition wall is removed, an open kitchen area and a study are created. The use of open and interactive space helps to enhance the emotional communication between family members. The main vision of the wall and the end scene use the painted composition to integrate the strong emotion of the reunion of the house owner family into it, and connect the emotions of the people and the space design.

Research

The designer's hand-painted wall painting design technique is a highlight of the design, so that the space is filled with the romantic and classical atmosphere of art aesthetics. The long and narrow corridor area without light is transformed into a cultural corridor to display the art works collected by the owners abroad. The painting of flowers and birds with Oriental artistic colors at the end of the corridor symbolizes the warm atmosphere of the house owners' family gathered together.

Inspiration

This is an old house renovation design. As a beautiful cabin crew, she has traveled to many countries and visited many European art buildings, and forms the cultivation and persistence of aesthetics. Therefore, the space design is guided by the European design style, introducing the typical Baroque and Rococo design, and matching the installation art with a sense of fashion, to create a resort hotel style of beautiful palace without losing the cordial feeling.

Project Overview

Rococo Memory Residential has been a Bronze winner in the Interior Space and Exhibition Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
