Residential for JT Design
This home blends classical and modern elements to meet the needs of a six member family. An open layout shapes the living areas, creating a shared space for connection. With a narrow layout, bedrooms are placed at opposite ends, with a central living space for balance. The entryway features marble inlays and mirrored wall panels, establishing a visual identity. Inside, engineered wood flooring contrasts with architectural elements such as Roman columns, a fireplace, and hand-painted wallcoverings to shape the space.

The entrance hall area opens the prelude for the space with the marble cut graphics, supplemented by two sides of the wall decorative line plate carved mirror, to lay the first impression of the house with a unique appearance. The open public area is replaced with sea island wood flooring to create a warm indoor atmosphere, and then the classic elements such as Roman columns, fireplace, and hand-painted wallcoverings, accurately present the American classical grand and gorgeous feeling.

According to the owner's personality and preferences, the design tends to American classical style. As a result, there are both classic Roman columns in the space, but also the integration of wall cloth with eastern colors, and round stools, etc., combining eastern and western elements in this case, to form a diversified and rich space experience.
In this case, the roof beam is low, which worries that the local space will appear depressed; therefore, the classical wire plate is used to cover the beam, and then the mirrors are installed above the foyer to achieve the dual effects of weakening the presence of the beam and enlarging the space height. Moreover, in response to the fact that the dining room is not in the window area, and the natural lighting is relatively insufficient, a mirror is installed on the wall, which not only magnifies the visual space, but also facilitates the reflection of light and makes the environment brighter.
The project started in 2018 and finished in February 2020 in Taoyuan, Taiwan.
The owner's family cohesion is quite strong, which is a family of six people like to share each other's life; even if they do their own things, they are used to sitting together. Therefore, in addition to planning the public area as an open layout, a long table is arranged between the living room and the dining room to create a "family core area" as the main interaction space for family members.
The classical style often uses the "foyer" to decorate; in addition to separate the spaces, it also is a medium, which is installed under the roof beam, so as to modify the sense of abruptness and beautify the space. Therefore, when facing the beam running through the public area, the invisible effect is achieved by designing a foyer, and because of the foyer design, the original height of the ceiling is maintained to avoid a sense of pressure.
The house owner in this case likes the elegance and rich visual presentation of the classical style, but also needs to meet the different needs of the family members. Thus, on the basis of classical style, it integrates the children's expectations of simple and contemporary elements, to create a modern style of American classical home. The public area is deliberately planned to adopt an open layout, and create a "family core area" where everyone can sit together at the same time.
