The site adjoins urban green space on the east and west. Taking advantage of the panoramic landscape and the relatively expansive plot area, the design team created a rare large U-shaped inner yard for the fire station, thereby maximizing internal activity space, improving working and living conditions for firefighters, and preserving an open "breathing space" in its immediate vicinity.

1. Envelopes: All envelope walls are made of either aerated concrete or reinforced concrete. The external windows are made of ordinary aluminum alloy frames and Low-E insulated glass or coated glass. 2. U-shaped layout: The fire engine garage exit and square facilitate rapid fire emergency response and create a turnaround space for fire engines. On the west side, space is allocated for fire training field, running track, and basketball court, maximizing the yard space as a "breathing space."
1. The plot has an irregular trapezoid shape, necessitating a rational layout for the entire fire station, exit square, and training venue. 2. Shenzhen’s high-density urban environment intensifies firefighting challenges, with limited land resources further constraining development. 3. The irregular shape and limited area of the site make it impossible to meet Shenzhen's setback requirements while fulfilling the project’s needs.
Start time: September 2016 Completion date: April 2021 Project address: Shenzhen, China
Fire engines exit the station via a nearby urban road, enhancing emergency response efficiency. The visitor entrance is on the south side, with public areas set on 1F and mezzanine. The fire engine garage faces a square near the urban road. 1F accommodates the entrance hall, canteen, and air bottle refilling room. 2F houses the firefighter duty room and office, while 3F includes the operation and auxiliary rooms. Additionally, multiple roof gardens enrich the firefighters' lives.
The project is based on the research results of “2014 Shenzhen Fire Station Standardization Design Workshop”, Guidelines for Shenzhen Fire Station Standardization and Individualization Design, and Fire Station Standardization Research Documentation. It has set a benchmark for fire station construction in Shenzhen, meeting the city's growing demand for fire stations and providing a valuable reference for fire station construction nationwide.
The project is located at the intersection of Danzi Avenue and Baozi Middle Road in Pingshan District,Shenzhen, occupying a plot area of 5,960.64 sqm and the plot is in an irregular trapezoid shape.Flanked by urban green space on the east and west sides,it boasts an open and broad view. The site adjoins residences on the north, and Danzi Avenue on the south, above which the Shenzhen-Xiamen Railway passes through. The project adopted a standardized, personalized, and comprehensive design approach.
